The Syracuse Orange basketball team opens its 2012-13 regular season against San Diego State, in a Veterans’ Day weekend matchup that will be played on the flight deck of the historic Navy aircraft carrier U.S.S. Midway. Both teams are ranked in the pre-season top-20 nationally.

Brad and Thom will file reports starting Friday, through postgame Sunday, focusing not only on the game and the S.U. team, but on the significance of the event in honoring our veterans.

The game itself has already achieved some historical significance. It was originally planned for Friday night, but a forecast of rain and winds in San Diego forced a postponement until Sunday afternoon, making it the first known rain-out in college basketball history.
