UTICA, N.Y. -- Officials are looking into the cause of a fire in Utica. Crews responded to Bleeker Street shortly before 9 p.m. Monday.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from the second floor apartment. About eight to 10 people were evacuated from the building, and everyone got out safely.
Fire investigators say it was put out quickly and didn't cause much damage.
"We pulled walls and ceilings down and it did not penetrate. We lucked out there was actually brick behind the wall so it stayed pretty much to the object of origin," said Michael Wusik, Utica Fire Deputy Chief.
One woman was transported to the hospital. Fire officials say she was suffering from a minor asthma attack.
