CORNING, N.Y. -- Officials have released the names of the people killed in Thursday’s helicopter crash in Corning.

The pilot was Mackenzie Bleth, 24, of Oregon. He worked for Haverfield Aviation. The passenger was Dale Crout, 41, of Watkins Glen. He was an employee of NYSEG.

The MD helicopter was contracted out by NYSEG to assist with the inspections. Around noontime, it crashed into a green area next to the Chemung River and burst into flames. Officials say it appears the chopper got tangled in wires, while the crew was inspecting transmission lines.

NYSEG released a statement saying they are "deeply saddened by this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, friends and co-workers of the two men who were killed in today’s crash."
