VESTAL, N.Y. -- From mathematics to bio-engineering, college students are encouraging high schoolers to consider a career path that includes education in the sciences.

Binghamton University students put on the second annual Vestal Math and Science Fair. Those who attended learned what goes into the different degrees and what jobs could be available for them after they graduate.

While the fair is designed for the high school students, organizers say that the college students benefit as well.

"Obviously it's very valuable for the high school students. They get a feel for what is out there, but as well for the college students because they are going to be interacting with people when they get a job so it's kind of like practice for the real world," Amber Ferger, BU Bio-Engineers Club President.

Organizers plan to put on more science fairs at other area schools during the next semester.
