HARRISBURG, N.Y. -- A 9-month-old baby injured in an Amish buggy accident has died.

Deputies say the mother and her infant were headed north on Route 12 in Harrisburg Tuesday morning when their buggy was hit by a vehicle.

The infant was rushed to a local hospital, then airlifted to University Hospital in Syracuse where the baby was pronounced dead.

The mother suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the car, Lacey Northrup, 27, was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation and authorities say charges are pending.
