Former Broome County Executive passes away
BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. – Well known former Broome County Executive Donald McManus has died.
McManus was the first ever Democrat elected as Broome County Executive in 1976. The life-long Endicott resident dedicated his life to public service.
In 1981, he became the Regional Ombudsman for then Governor Hugh Carey. He also served as a councilman, town supervisor and Deputy Director of the State Thruway, a job he held until his retirement.
Funeral arrangements and calling hours have not been finalized.
McManus was 79.
