CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- Thousands of people will be packing stores across the Twin Tiers for the busiest shopping day of the year. Local malls say they're ready.

The Arnot Mall in Big Flats has about 40 stores opening at midnight, with Sears opening at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving. The rest of the stores will open by 6 a.m. Friday.

Arnot is expecting large crowds, especially at midnight. Extra security workers will be walking through the mall just in case.

"Lots of security on hand law enforcement is always great making sure they're on site as well to make sure our customers are safe. And really just let it all unfold, it's usually great energy in the mall," said Meghann Reed, Marketing Director of Arnot Mall.

There will be gift bags in center court at midnight for the first 200 Black Friday shoppers.
