With the Powerball Jackpot now at half a billion dollars, the anticipation has never been greater.

Powerball officials say the recent buying frenzy pushed the jackpot from $425 million to $500 million. A single winner choosing the cash payout will take home $327 million before taxes.

The jackpot is the largest ever for the Powerball game and the second largest lottery jackpot of all time, eclipsed only by the $656 million Mega Millions record set in March.

We asked our favorite lottery "insider" for a winning strategy.

"I would tell them to continue playing those birthdays and anniversaries and grandkids ages, but put two dollars on that quick pick, because that computer generated number, you never know," Yolanda Vega said.
