HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two people were hospitalized following a fire at a home in Herkimer County. It happened on Otsego Street in Ilion around 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials say when they got there, they rescued a man and a woman from the home. They say both had burns and smoke inhalation.

One was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse and another was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

No one else was injured.

Crews were able to put out the fire in about 15 minutes, but it caused heavy damage to the first floor.
