SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Progressive democrats in Syracuse rallied against Senator David Valesky. They stood outside the Syracuse State Office Building Thursday to show their anger at Valesky and the Independent Democratic Coalition for voting with Senate Republicans.

They say since New Yorkers voted him into office when he ran as a democrat, he should support all democratic values.

"Senator Valesky, your options, your choices were clear. If you believe what the republican caucus believes, then you should have run as a republican. But sir, you did not. You ran as a democrat," said Mike Patterson of Citizen Action of New York.

Senator Valesky ran unopposed in this year's election.
