Trees for Troops

It's an effort to make the holiday season a little brighter for members of the military and their families. The Trees for Troops campaign gives fresh, farm-grown Christmas trees to U.S. troops and their families. Brad Vivacqua is in our newsroom and has more.

JORDAN, N.Y. -- Many of our viewers may be very familiar with the Trees for Troops program. This marks the eighth year for the campaign in which tens of thousands of trees are donated and delivered to military bases across the country.

We visited the Three B Tree Nursery in Jordan, which is one of many collection points for the nationwide campaign. A number of people and organizations have donated trees to the Jordan farm which will be picked up by Fed Ex around 9 a.m.

It's estimated around 18,000 trees will be provided to military families stationed at more than 60 bases in the U.S. and overseas.

The trees have been donated from all across our regio, including Rome, Canastota, Parish, Central Square, and Massena just to name a few.
