MONTAGUE, N.Y. -- Hitting a deer with a car can cause significant damage, but imagine hitting one with an ATV.

A Lewis County man was hospitalized Sunday night after crashing into a deer on a rural road in the Town of Montague.

Authorities say 53-year-old Lawrence Bacon was ejected from the four wheeler after it rolled over. Bacon was taken to a nearby hospital and then transferred to Upstate Medical Center.

The severity of his injuries is unknown at this time.
