STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. -- Some tough news for people in Steuben County as 280 people will be losing their jobs. Philips announced plans to shut down its plant in Bath.

Company leaders say the lighting industry is moving to different types of digital technologies. The factory produces High Intensity Discharge products with halogen components.

In a statement, Philips said it would work with local and state officials to help employees with placement and retraining programs.
