SU officials say Saturday's sports charity auction will include about 550 items, making this auction the largest yet. This year, the goal is to raise $40,000 for the Special Olympics of New York so that 100 athletes can compete at no cost.
Every year, the proceeds from this event go to help a different charity in Central New York. In order to attend the auction you'll need a ticket to Saturday night's SU - Monmouth basketball game at the Dome.
The doors open at 5 p.m. for the auction where you can bid on items ranging from jewelry, autographed memorabilia, tickets, and electronics.
Officials say students in SU's Sport Management Club have worked very hard to make this event possible.
SU Sport Management Club Advisor Kate Veley said, "I would encourage the Syracuse community to help the 75 students who have literally been working an entire semester to pull this off. It's our Syracuse community that has allowed this to happen and be so successful over the years, so we're really hoping everyone will come out and join us."
Since this annual auction started eight years ago, the Sport Management Club has raised about $155,000 for local charities.
