CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- Madison County fire crews make quick work of a fire at a Canastota recycling plant.

The fire started at Prime Materials Recovery around 5:30 a.m. Friday. About 20 employees were inside at the time, but everyone did get out safely.

Several fire departments quickly responded and put out the flames within half an hour.

Canastota Fire Chief John Massarotti said, "We just call the equipment in and they follow through. They did a great job, and they had to do some work inside."

The plant has some water and smoke damage. The cause is under investigation, but the chief says it's believed some dust on one of the machines may have sparked the fire.
