VESTAL, N.Y. -- A nationally recognized speaker and author paid a visit to Vestal High School.

Jeff Yalden was one of the coaches on the MTV show "Made Life." He talked to students about participating in community service and taking responsibility in their decision making.

Yelden says that while parents try to get the message across on a day to day basis, he hopes that his words will help the message sink in.

"In an assembly like this if I can just make sense, when they walk out of here if they could be cheering themselves, their lives, obviously the choices that they make," said Yalden.

Vestal High School’s Lighthouse committee coordinated the visit. The lighthouse committee aims to provide a positive influence in the school atmosphere as well as provide leadership opportunities for both students and faculty.
