SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- If you need a little extra help this holiday season, the Salvation Army is registering people for its annual Christmas Bureau Distribution.
For more than 30 years, the Salvation Army has helped those in need give their children gifts for Christmas. Each child will receive a book, a toy and a stocking stuffer. And every family will get a holiday food basket that contains a turkey and all the fixings for a holiday dinner.
The Salvation Army says it will serve about 3,000 families or about 8,000 children.
Salvation Army Public Relations and Marketing Manager Greg Meitus said, "The big push right now is to get the money for the turkeys. That's always a big struggle for us. When you're looking at raising money for 3,000 turkeys, that's about $45,000."
The registration deadline is Friday.
