SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The president of SUNY-ESF is stepping down.

Dr. Corneilus Murphy Jr. made his plans public during a campus meeting today.

Murphy said he will focus more now on teaching and special projects at the college.

He's been president since 2000 and led the college through major expansions which included the construction of the college's first residence hall and the nearly completed Gateway Center scheduled to open next month.

Murphy will stay on as President until a successor is named.
