Oneida County legislators vote on medical examiner
ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Oneida County no longer has a coroner system. County legislators voted Wednesday to use the Onondaga Medical Examiner instead. The vote passed 23 to six.
In the past, coroners were elected and lacked certain qualifications. Now the medical examiners will be qualified forensic investigators.
Bodies will be transferred to Syracuse for examination.
This will be a one year contract beginning January 1st.
