SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Many communities are facing a growing need for assistance during the holidays. YNN and our parent company, Time Warner Cable, partnered with the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Center in Syracuse to contribute to their community as part of the Holiday Hopes and Happenings gift drive.

Employees and customers donated items like gift cards, hats, mittens, books and toys to give to families and children in need.

Volunteers say there's no better way to give back to the communities that do so much for them.

"The need is more critical than ever, especially kids that are going through what they go through at the McMahon/Ryan Child Advocacy Center, the need is more important than ever for us to make their holidays a little bit brighter in any way we can," said TWC Communications Manager Stephanie Salanger.

YNN and Time Warner Cable also worked with child advocacy centers in Broome, Oneida and Chemung counties, along with Operation Tribute, which supports military families around the northeast.

In all, about 4,000 gifts were collected this year, which will end up in the arms of about 2,000 children.
