CENTRAL SQUARE, N.Y. -- Eight fire departments battled a house fire in a rural part of Central Square Friday afternoon.

State Route 49 was blocked off as crews spent about 45 minutes battling flames.

The Caughdenoy Fire Department says one person sustained minor burns, but did not need to be hospitalized.

The house is a total loss and the Red Cross is assisting those who lived at the home.
