TRUMANSBURG, N.Y. -- The Village of Trumansburg was one of many communities finding ways to honor the victims of Friday's shooting.

Neighbors gathered together at Trumansburg Central School for a candlelight vigil Monday night, despite the rain. The somber ceremony included remarks by school officials, as well as some music and singing.

The vigil was organized by several community members who wanted to pay respect to those who were killed and their loved ones and offer support to one another during a difficult time.

"I think that adage of leaning on each other is very important. If we lean and nobody's there, we fall. And if somebody's there to catch us, then perhaps they're leaning, too. So we can help each other stay upright and help keep the hope and love and compassion alive," said Joe Sibley, one of the organizers.

Members of the clergy were also on hand for anyone who needed to talk.
