NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Dick's Sporting Goods announced it is removing all guns from its nearest location to Newtown, Connecticut. The store has also announced that it is suspending the sale of certain kinds of semi-automatic rifles in all stores across the country.

Officials with the company say it is out of respect for people mourning the victims of the shooting.

Police say Adam Lanza attempted to buy a gun at a Dick's in Danbury just days before the shooting, but was not able to buy one.
