SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse School District students remembered the victims of the Sandy Hook tragedy, one week after the killings. People gathered at the Institute of Technology on East Adams Street. A large banner was signed for the Newtown community.

Students read a poem and released balloons to honor the victims. The tragedy still resonates with students.

"This really hurt me because I can't imagine a world without my sister. To think of how all those families and parents feel about their kids. It's just unspeakable," said Dylan Gwilt, an organizer.

People also created snowflakes for each person killed. One of the organizers will try to share the banner, snowflakes and a video of the event with the families of the Sandy Hook victims.
