CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Just in time for the New Year, two businesswomen have launched a monthly health magazine in Central New York.

The magazine is called THRiVE CNY. Its focus is health and wellness for the mind, body and spirit.

The 36 page premiere issue will include articles on weight loss, integrative medicine and mental health. It's meant to be used as a tool for readers to take their health into their own hands and not just rely on the medical community.

The creators say it has been an amazing process.

"When you have that feeling inside of you, of this is just like exciting, not only something that I want to do, but it’s something that has a purpose and feeds my soul, so for anyone who recognizes that in themselves, that's your sign that you do it," said Lisa Cavallaro, THRiVE CNY editor.

"It was exciting once we decided to do this, to put our heads together, to work real hard to make this happen and it’s exciting to finally see it in print and being distributed through Central New York," said THRiVE CNY publisher Sue Wallace.

The magazine is free and can be found at various places like local grocery stores and medical facilities.
