TYRONE, N.Y. -- In Schuyler County, officials have released the name of the woman who died in a fire that also killed her dog.
Sandra Porter, 63, died after her home on Six Corners Road in Tyrone caught fire early Wednesday morning. The entire house was engulfed by the time crews arrived.
One man did make it out with minor injuries, but Porter and her dog did not.
It took firefighters about 40 minutes to get control of the flames. The cause of Porter's death and of the fire are both still being investigated.
