CHITTENANGO, N.Y. -- A local veteran’s organization received a $2,000 donation from another veteran’s group. The Vietnam Veterans of America organization and its Central New York chapter presented Clear Path for Veterans with a check to buy a new oven for their industrial kitchen.
Clear Path, based in Chittenango, offers a culinary program to veterans to help teach them to be self sufficient.
But if you take a look at the oven they're using now, it's rusty and burned. So officials say they're happy to have a new one is on the way. They say the new stove will be a big help when they cook for other veterans and their families.
"We'll be able to put on some dinners for some of the local, homeless veterans in transition. This is a place where people gather, it's got a great family environment. It's a safe, non-clinical facility, so we really look forward to being able to provide some good food while they come and visit," said Melissa Spicer, Clear Path for Veterans Co-Founder.
Clear Path partners with Morrisville State College and Syracuse University for their culinary program.
