ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. – There are some major changes coming in the look of Onondaga County government, both on the executive and legislative sides. A number of key appointments have been made by Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney.

Long time republican County Legislator William Meyer is being appointed to a newly created post of Deputy Veterans Affairs Director.

In the meantime, the democratic floor leader of the legislature, Mark Stanczyk, will be leaving to take another new job, Deputy Commissioner of Community Services.

The County Executive's chief spokesman, Marty Skahen, is being named to a vacancy of Deputy County Parks Commissioner.

Also, Ben Dublin, a former Mahoney aide who was caught up in a battle over an appointment to a legislative vacancy three years ago, is returning to county government as Mahoney's Chief of Staff.

The County Executive is responsible for appointing replacements for Meyer and Stanczyk on the legislature. There is no timeline being mentioned for those appointments.
