ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Jamesville man who destroyed several swan eggs in the Village of Manlius last year has been sentenced.

Ross Leone, 23, will serve four weekends in the Jamesville Correctional Facility, three years of probation and will have to pay $850 in fines and $2,800 in restitution.

Leone pleaded guilty to fourth degree criminal mischief and interfering with wildlife last month. He admitted to smashing the seven swan eggs, just two weeks before they were ready to hatch.

The mayor of Manlius says it's time to move on for both Leone and the community.

"Now is a time for healing and to keep moving forward. He is paying his price for what he has done and he is accountable for his actions, sorry for his actions," said Mark-Paul Serafin, Village of Manlius Mayor.

The Associate District Attorney says Leone did issue an apology to the mayor and residents of Manlius.
