SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A 15 and 2 season does not go unrecognized by Syracuse's mayor. The Valley Stallions Pop Warner football team was honored by Mayor Stephanie Miner Friday for their hard work and accomplishments.
She named January 4th, 2013 as Valley Stallions Recognition Day.
The team's 19 players headed down to Florida's Disney World to play in the Pop Warner Super Bowl in early December, where they tied for third.
The Valley Stallions Head Coach says he's proud of his team and their dedication through the season.
"Just the hard work and all the energy that they put in day in and day out, on and off the field, in and out of the classroom, just the commitment and the energy that it takes to get to this point," said Ken Thomas, head coach of Valley Stallions Football Team.
The team’s goal for next year is to make it back to Disney for another Super Bowl.
