SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- If you're heading northbound on Interstate 81 through downtown Syracuse this weekend, you'll want to find another route.
A portion of Interstate 81 North is now closed as crews make some road repairs. An inspection revealed loose concrete on the I-81 bridge deck near the 690 interchange. They're doing the work this weekend because there aren't many city events or a big game scheduled for the Carrier Dome.
Drivers will have to exit at Adams Street and re-enter the highway at the Almond Street on-ramp. Transportation officials say they're also closing one lane of that on-ramp during the construction.
DOT officials say bad weather could potentially change the schedule, but they're hoping to have their work done by 6 a.m. Monday.
