ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Teens at a local high school volunteer their time to help kids in Syracuse who are less fortunate.

Dozens of students at Fayetteville-Manlius high school participated in the Global Connections Festival on Saturday. The event was organized by teens with the Community Connections Club. They were trying to raise $5,000 to help students at Doctor Weeks Elementary School in Syracuse.

"I feel like we should do things and give out to the community, people that don't have the opportunities that we have at F-M. We should give out some of the things we have for them," student organizer Miguel Garcia said.

The money is used to help purchase school supplies.

Students in the connections club travel to Doctor Weeks Elementary twice a month to volunteer in the Say Yes to Education program.
