LINDLEY, N.Y. -- Neighboring towns are coming together to help Lindley. A Saturday night fire destroyed their entire garage and more than $1 million worth of highway equipment.

That means the town won't be able to maintain nearly 72 miles of roads within its boundaries. Surrounding communities like Erwin, Caton, Tuscarora, Rathbone and a few Pennsylvania towns have stepped in and donated trucks.

Monday morning, the area experienced some slick roads and neighbors were in Lindley spreading salt.

"Depending on where the other towns join our borders, they're going to help us out on those roads and some have loaned equipment as well, so fortunately, I think we'll be doing okay," said Town of Lindley Supervisor Gerald Simcoe.

Simcoe says it will take a while to handle the loss with the insurance company. Leaders are not sure when they can buy replacement trucks.
