WHITNEY POINT, N.Y. -- After a disappointing cancellation last year, the hopes for a 2013 Almost Annual New York State Crappie Derby are still up in the air.

The event has been rescheduled from January 26th to February 9th due to the warm spell we've had recently.

Last year, the unusually warm winter left organizers no choice but to cancel. Thousands of people have shown up in previous years to compete for prizes in the ice fishing tournament.

Organizers are hoping that the postponement will allow for enough time for ice to form over Whitney Point Lake.
