SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A locally owned food distributor made a sizeable donation to help those who serve our country. The Gregory J. Harris Military Courtesy Room at Hancock Airport received a $5,000 donation, plus snack foods, from G&P Food Distributors.

The Military Courtesy Room is one of only a handful of privately funded military lounges in the nation, run solely by volunteers and through donations. Soldiers who are returning from deployment, going home on leave, or traveling to area bases, can go to the lounge to feel welcomed and comfortable.

The G&P President, who also served in the military, says the courtesy room is a great way to thank those who sacrifice their time to protect.

"I think what they're doing here. It's easy to give money when you have it. Giving time is very difficult and these people give a lot of their time," said David Lepage, President of G&P Food Distributors.

G&P is based in Syracuse, and donates a certain percentage back into the community each year. The Military Courtesy Room can still benefit from money donations of any size, individually wrapped snacks, and drinks.
