SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A Syracuse high school is bridging the gap between its past and present. Tech Central opened in 2007, combining the former Central High School and Syracuse Tech.

Friday night, alumni from the former schools were invited to take part in a ceremony at the ITC's brand new auditorium. As part of the occasion, Central High's 1960 trophy for winning the city basketball championship was added to the ITC trophy case.

For many people involved, the reunion was a long time coming, but it also provided a valuable lesson for students.

"I think that it's great for our new generation, the recent graduates, as well as our current students, to see that Central High was here at one time, and there's quite a few successful alumnus that are here tonight," said Bob Piraino, IT Central Government Economics teacher.

Central High Coaching Legend and graduate, Ed Lukens, was also honored at the ceremony. There were also tours of the high school for returning alumni.
