UTICA, N.Y. -- The race is on to sign up for the Boilermaker. Registration began Saturday and already more than 5,000 spots have been filled and that number's steadily rising.

Only 14,000 people can register for the 15K and 4,500 for the 5K.

Last year, it only took 65 days before all the spots were filled. Organizers urge people to sign up quickly. They say it’s a race you don’t want to miss.

“Nine-point-three miles of wall to wall people that are cheering for you. It makes you feel like you’re a rock star and free beer at the end probably doesn’t hurt either,” said Boilermaker Race President Tim Reed.

This year, the Boilermaker is offering something new during registration. Runners can buy a unique training shirt that reveals a secret message as the runner sweats.

The Boilermaker will be held on July 14th.

There will be no paper application available. You can sign up by visiting boilermaker.com.
