SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse's north side once again has a neighborhood grocery store. Tops held a grand opening Tuesday morning at the site of the former Pond Street Wegmans. Employees were at the store Monday making the final preparations.
That neighborhood has been without a supermarket since Wegmans left the building last summer. There was a big push by city leaders, and people on the north side to get another grocery store to move back into that neighborhood.
After reaching a deal with the City of Syracuse, Tops started the process of reopening a full service supermarket at the location. It's the chain's second store in the city.
