MASSENA, N.Y. -- State Police in St. Lawrence County have found the body of the Massena man who was missing on the Grasse River since Monday.

Police say John Favreau, 43, drove his snowmobile onto the ice on the river to go ice fishing Monday afternoon. But about 50 yards from the shore, the snowmobile broke through the ice and he fell in with it.

Rescuers began their search for Favreau Monday night after he was reported missing and continued until divers found his body.

An autopsy will be performed at Massena Memorial Hospital.
