Arrest made after tons of railroad metals stolen

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A man is in custody today for allegedly stealing tons of railroad metals from a St. Lawrence County business.

Sheriff's deputies say Alex Amyot, 37, stole several tons of railroad plates, conversion bars and other metals from a Norwood business in August of last year. Officials say Amyot fled to Florida where he was arrested and taken back to New York.

He is charged with third-degree grand larceny. Amyot is being held on $10,000 cash bail.
