CICERO, N.Y. -- Getting the most points wasn't the main goal of this hockey game. The Fayetteville-Manlius and Cicero-North Syracuse boys varsity ice hockey teams played in their second annual "Pink the Rink" game Thursday night.

The event raises awareness and money for breast cancer research.

The players from both schools started "Pink the Rink" last year after two players' mom - Nancy Chase - passed away from breast cancer.

Parents who help the boys organize the event are proud of the their efforts.

Volunteer and hockey mom Deb Bell said, "I think as parents we want our kids to realize that their actions have positive consequences, that they are able to, in some small way, make a large impact on their community."

The game was sponsored by the Carol M. Baldwin Foundation.
