ONONDAGA COUNTY -- The passage of New York's new gun control law has left many people with questions. Unfortunately answers are hard to come by at this point.

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh tried to clear up some of the details. He spoke with the advocacy group known as "CNY Patriots".

He believes there's still a long way to go before the law really takes hold.

"These laws, as they're standing right now are going to fall into the realm of 2nd constitutional rights. Whether or not they're going to be upheld is really up to the courts," said Walsh.

Sheriff Walsh also said he's not sure which law enforcement agency will be responsible for registering illegal assault weapons. Currently, he said his own department doesn't have the time or manpower to do so.
