PHOENIX, N.Y. -- Windy conditions are causing problems around the region, leading to downed wires and lots of power outages.

A tree came down on Cherry Street in Phoenix Sunday morning. It fell into some electrical wires, causing some concerns about the possibility of a fire. No one was hurt.

Firefighters say the mix of wind and wet weather we've had are a recipe for trouble.

Deputy Fire Chief Dan Dunn said, "The ground is wet, it's not really frozen, so this wind, with that wet ground, just makes the top heavy trees just fall over. And then, as you can see here, they take down wires and stuff along with them, and then we have more problems."

Dunn cautions homeowners to be extremely careful if a tree does fall on your property. He says it could still have live electrical wires tangled in the branches.
