CHENANGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Chenango County woman has been accused of assaulting someone with a shovel.

Sheriff's deputies say the incident happened in the Town of Oxford Sunday morning.

According to investigators, Trista Welch, 21, hit the victim so hard, the shovel actually broke.

Welch has been charged with felony assault in the second degree and criminal mischief. She's scheduled to appear in Town of Oxford court at a later date.
