BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A number of community driven organizations in the Southern Tier have received a generous donation to help with the continued flood relief efforts.

The Visions Federal Credit Union in Endwell donated a total of $35,000 to The United Way of Broome County, Tioga County United Way Incorporated, Tioga Opportunities and the Tioga County Senior Citizens Foundation.

The contribution will assist the organizations' goals of bringing the area back to life after the devastating 2011 flooding.

The Visions president and CEO says the company values giving back to the community, especially when people are still feeling harsh effects from the flooding.

"There's a lot of people that haven't got their checks. People are still living with relatives. Even though it's a year and a half, it's going to take a while to resolve it, so we felt it was important to help these people," said Frank E. Berrish, President and CEO of Visions.

The four organizations continue to assist flood victims with meals, shelter and some financial obligations.
