NICHOLS, N.Y. -- Have you ever thought about what you would do if you won a million dollars? Well, several people in the Southern Tier no longer have to wonder.
The New York Lottery distributed $3 million in prize money from three winning tickets to local lottery players Friday. The winners live in Horseheads, Spencer, and Trumansburg.
All of the lottery players won their prizes on various scratch-off games. Many say they were shocked when they found out they were winners.
"My heart was pounding, I didn't know if it was true or not, had to look at it five times, but it was exciting, a different feeling," said Abdel Mallouk, lottery winner.
"You can't even believe it, it takes a while to sink in, you have to have somebody else tell you you won," said Terry Clingen, lottery winner.
The winners say their plans for the prize money include traveling, shopping, and paying off bills.
