KIRKWOOD, N.Y. -- Broome County officials are encouraging the public to take advantage of job training and services available through the Broome/Tioga Workforce.

County Executive Debbie Preston announced Thursday that the workforce center recently received a $112,000 grant through the Federal Disability Employment Initiative, to fund employment training programs for the injured and disabled. The workforce center also offers many other programs for the unemployed.

Preston says there are currently more than 3,000 jobs available within in a 50 mile radius of Broome County.

"With the thousands of jobs available in our region and the resources of the Broome/Tioga Workforce, we have the potential to cut our number of unemployed individuals substantially," said Preston.

To find out more information, you can contact the Broome/Tioga Workforce at (607) 778-2136 or visit broometiogaworks.com.
