ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Onondaga County Sheriff's office hosted a Black History Month event, bringing inspirational speakers to the Justice Center. One of them was Robert Drummond, a Syracuse native and former SU football player.

Drummond spoke to the inmates about improving their lives even after a troubled past. He told people he learned the hard way after his father was murdered in Syracuse 15 years ago. But he turned his life around and has become a successful business owner, motivational speaker and father of two children.

"Believe it or not, you are all in the same position I am. Someone looks up to all of you. Someone out there truly, truly loves you and looks up to all of you. Believe it," Drummond said.

Its the 16th year the justice center has hosted this event.
