ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The ribbon was cut, marking the official opening of the new Rural/Metro station in the Town of Salina.
Officials at Rural/Metro Medical Services say with the growing need for EMS resources, the new facility will help to serve the community better.
Previously, Rural/Metro was housed at the Liverpool Fire Station, but now it will have enough space for another ambulance. Officials say the location is perfect.
"We took a look at our call line trends over the last couple years and the vast majority of our calls in the Town of Salina happen to be within about a mile or so radius of this facility, so it works out very well. It also gives us a very good egress into other parts of the county from here being close to 57, 370, etc," said Mike Addario, Rural/Metro Division General Manager.
In the new building, there is a kitchen, showers and a bunk room to keep crew members comfortable between calls.
