CORTLAND, N.Y. -- A well-known 19th century house located in downtown Cortland got a visit from the SyFy channel's "Ghost Hunters."

The 1890 House, located on Tompkins Street, was built by local industrialist Chester Wickwire and later converted into a museum. Visitors have reported seeing floating orbs and ghostly images that appear in photos, while an audio recording of an empty room is said to have captured spirits.

Staff of the 1890 House has also claimed to have eerie encounters with who they believe are several people who died in the house. They say those spirits include Chester Wickwire, his wife, Ardell, his first son, Raymond, and a servant named Victoria who committed suicide while she was working in the home.

Wednesday's episode of "Ghost Hunters" revealed what many suspected is possible ghostly encounters.
